DON’T BE DULL!

Ecclesiastes 10:10

If the ax is dull, And one does not sharpen the edge, Then he must use more strength; But wisdom brings success.

A reasonable question would be: Is the Bible talking about chopping wood…or is it talking about life?

It is certain that wisdom is a life issue. Dullness may be just as much of a life issue.

The Bible gives us more insight into the meaning of dullness:
Jeremiah 10:8,14,21

What would it mean to be “dull-hearted”?

Hard-hearted?

Calloused?

Insensitive?

In the New Testament we see a similar use of “dull-hearted” in Matthew 13:15 & Acts 28:27

However the book of Hebrews begins to expand on the idea of dullness:
Hebrews 5:11
of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing.

“Dull of hearing” may mean to be unable, or unwilling, to hear the voice of God…or the voice of others in need.

If we can be dull of heart, or dull of hearing, are there other ways of being dull?

POSSIBLE “DULLS”

Dull eyes (seeing)

Dull mouth (speaking)

Dull hands (serving)

You may be a dullard if…the work of God and the needs of other people are NOT your top priorities

Want to sharpen your dullness?

Let Jesus be the lord of your life!

Matthew 11:5
The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

If Jesus can do all this, imagine what He can do for you!

A sharp life begins with Jesus in control!
