A DISCIPLESHIP MINUTE
(to get you started on that hour of growth)
Jesus' lesson to his disciples after he washed their feet, is found in John chapter 15: ABIDE IN ME
Abide - to wait for, to endure without yielding, to withstand, to remain stable, to continue.
Synonym to Remain - to be a part not destroyed, to be something yet to be shown done or treated, to stay with the same person, to continue unchanged.
Synonym to Dwell - to live with, to exist, to keep attention directed
How do we ABIDE? By spending time reading His word daily, talking to Him, being obedient to His leading and commands.
Please share ways that you abide in Him by adding your comment below.

John 15 has been a favorite of mine since I was in Girls in Action in my early teens. It presents a word picture that I can understand. The more I read it the more I see. Jesus states He is the TRUE vine, don't we often get caught up in other vines or weeds we thought were the vine?
As the gardener ,God decides which vines are producing the fruit desired in His vineyard. I want to be one of the branches that remain. To be a part not destroyed ,to be something not yet shown done .I want to continue to grow in the right direction and be willing to be pruned for my good.
In John 15:4 Jesus says Remain in me and I will remain in you. Jesus and me together.... Reminds me of the prayer, help me to remember,Lord, that nothing's going to happen today that you and I can't handle together. All we need to do is call his name!
I have learned that as we consistently ABIDE in him we begin to sense his presence more. We learn to distinguish his voice from others, to recognize interruptions as opportunities and failures as lessons.
As we ABIDE in him we are able to discern his leading ,his words become applicable to our everyday encounters; " be kind", "be patient", "be full of grace", "be forgiving" and "love others as I have loved you".
